The "Pairing Strategy" was also a lightbulb moment for me. I found the questions about "what is the function of this sentence?" to be confusing - I'd never had to think about passages like that before - and his "Technique 2: Simplifying on Steroids" was all I needed to develop confidence approaching those questions. I didn't do much to study for Verbal Reasoning as I knew it was already a strength of mine, but I did find GregMat's videos helpful nonetheless.

I also watched a few of the free Greenlight Prep videos - if I retook the test (which I won't), I would watch more of them, because they are very good at teaching techniques to approach questions quickly and efficiently. Gregmat's Technique 1 and Technique 3 were invaluable here, (His video "Cool tricks you can do with the prime numbers" was also very helpful - I didn't need to use any of these on my test but factors and multipliers were one of my weakest areas and this one video reversed that.) I highly recommend those videos. In addition to the ETS books, I completed almost every Manhattan 5lb section (I skipped Data Analysis because I found those questions trivially easy, and I only did a few from the Super Hard section). I started by reading through the whole ETS Math Review (laborious, but super helpful foundation). Quantitative Reasoning was the focus of my studies.

(I highly recommend taking the time to see if your local library has these options as well and buying used whenever possible - standardized tests are a scam and we shouldn't give ETS any more money than they're already extracting from us!) I also took five practice tests (the Manhattan Prep free test as a preliminary diagnostic, the two paper tests in the Official Guide, and the two free PowerPrep tests). My local library had digital copies of the Official Guide and the Quantitative Reasoning books, and I picked up used copies (without any writing on the pages) of the Verbal Reasoning and Manhattan 5lb books online for $6-$7 each shipped. The bulk of my studying was completing every problem in the ETS Super Power Pack.

At a minimum, every day I would do at least eight problems, study vocabulary flash cards, watch a Gregmat/Vince/Magoosh (I know Magoosh gets a lot of hate here but I did find their free math videos to be helpful and concise) video, and either brainstorm outlines for four essay prompts or write one full essay. I did take a few days off during that period (because depression ?). I spent five weeks studying, averaging a couple hours per day. My major was heavy on reading and writing, but I hadn't done math in seven years. I majored in cultural studies at a mid-tier US liberal arts college. Some background: I've been out of school for three years. Hi all, wanted to share my experience in case it's useful to anyone - I know it was reassuring to me to read others' experiences, and they definitely helped calm me down about the whole ProctorU thing.
